NORTH CANTON – Two cats died in a house fire Thursday as rescue crews were able to save two dogs.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
According to a news release from the city fire department:
Firefighters were called to 1035 Knoll Street SE around 2:55 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, they found fire coming from the front picture window of the home.
Fire Chief Drew Cramer said crews searched the residence and located two dogs and two cats inside.
Firefighters administered oxygen to the animals but the cats died. Cramer said the two dogs were transported by North Canton police to a local veterinary office and are expected to recover.

The occupants were not home at the time. No injuries were reported.
The fire was put out around 3:30 p.m. and crews cleared the scene at 6:39 p.m.
Jackson Township and Greentown firefighters came in to help.
Cramer said the department handled several other calls EMS calls during the fire and Plain Township Fire Department handled a traffic crash.
