BEXAR COUNTY – Three dogs have now been euthanized after attacking 1-year-old Jiriyah Johnson in October. Those injuries led to the child’s death.
Bexar County officials confirmed the euthanization on Thursday.

The attack happened on October 7 at a home off Spruce Ridge Drive near Kitty Hawk Drive in Northeast Bexar County.
Jiriyah was supposed to be with Heather Rodriguez, his babysitter.
Deputies say she left the child home with her own daughter and the three dogs.
The baby and the teen were in a bedroom when one of the dogs broke through an already damaged door and began attacking the baby. Other dogs eventually joined in.
“My understanding is that there was an effort to keep the baby sequestered from the dogs because these dogs were known to cause damage,” Sheriff Salazar said.
Sheriff Salazar said the teenager tried to get the dogs off the toddler but ended up being bitten in the process.
He said the baby was seriously mauled and had injuries in the neck and face, as well as the neck area.
The teen took the baby to a bathroom to try and save him, but the dogs were able to get in there too. After grabbing her phone to call the police, the teen made her way to another bedroom, barricading the door with her body until help arrived.
Jiriyah died the following day after several surgeries.
“The entire time since my son passed I’ve been trying to be the rock in the family, being supportive of my family, but I’m not good, It hasn’t gotten easier,” Jiryiah’s father, Julian Johnson, told us after his death.
Rodriguez, 36, was arrested after the attack and is being charged with three felonies.
