Dogs rescued from ‘overcrowded’ Massachusetts home seeking adopters

The MSPCA are seeking new homes for the 60 boxers they recently removed from a residence in Massachusetts.

The dogs were taken from a home in Merrimac. The MSPCA said that it was the largest local dog surrender they’ve had in almost a decade. The dogs were sent to various shelters in Boston, Methuen and Salem.

According to police, they received reports that the dogs were living in extremely overcrowded conditions. The owner of the home voluntarily surrendered the dogs. No charges were filed. This news comes just a few weeks after the Boston MSPCA took in 22 “designer dogs” from an overcrowded puppy mill in Missouri.

Merrimac Police Department Chief Eric Shears said: “Every domesticated animal has a right to minimum standards of nutrition, sanitation and veterinary care. Animal hoarding and overcrowding is dangerous because it jeopardizes the ability of animals to receive appropriate care, and we will investigate any reports of those occurrences.”

The dogs, who range in age from puppies to seniors, are being cared for at the shelters, and will be available for adoption once they have undergone medical and behavioral evaluations, which will likely be late June.

MSPCA officials warned potential adopters that some of the dogs need extra medical attention, like dental work. Immediate care for the dogs is expected to cost around $10,000 for which the MSPCA is currently accepting donations.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
