(WJAR) — Forever Paws Animal Shelter announced that dogs rescued from a New Bedford residence earlier this month are available for adoption.
The shelter said applications are now open, and that they plan to be strict in the process in housing these dogs.
“You must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member, no cats unless otherwise noted, and all kids must be 12+. Breed experience (or similar breed experience) is HIGHLY PREFERRED. Fenced in yards are also highly preferred as well,” Forever Paws Animal Shelter wrote on its social media page.
The application forms can be found on the shelter’s website.
Interested people can fill out the application and email it to fpas1@foreverpaws.com.
Those with approved applications will be able to meet the dogs in person.
Shelter officials said that these dogs will likely have chronic issues and that training will be necessary after adoption.
Two weeks ago, police said they responded to a home on 184 Myrtle St. for an animal cruelty investigation.
Animal control officers and police found 12 cane corso dogs in the attic where it was over 100 degrees and nine French bulldog mixes in the third-floor apartment.
Drugs were also seized from that residence, according to New Bedford police.
