ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – Several dogs rescued from a property in southwest Missouri were brought to the Humane Society in South City.
15 dogs were rescued from a property in Polk County. The Humane Society says a concerned neighbor called authorities last week. Sheriff’s deputies then arrived and found the property owner dead.
Several dogs were loose on the property with no access to food or water. Other dogs were tethered or confined to cages. Most are malnourished and have health issues that require further treatment. The Humane Society also found remains of dead dogs on the property.
The dogs were brought back to the Humane Society in South City for treatment. A hearing has been set for December 9 to determine if the Humane Society can take custody. If the organization is awarded custody, it says it will make the dogs available for adoption on a case-by-case basis.
