Dog’s reaction when arriving at day care goes viral: ‘move out of the way’

Doggy day cares are often a hit or miss with canines depending on their personalities and temperament, but those who enjoy them, tend to love them. Some might even call their love for these places obsessive, or at least that’s what one dog proved in a viral video.

An October 16 Facebook video shared by user Lillian Lew shows a Boston terrier arriving at a doggy day care in New Mexico. Anticipating what the dog would do, a person in a car started filming while another person got him out of the vehicle. He held the dog up in the air while they waited for a staff member to open the gate. But the dog couldn’t wait a second longer.

He wriggled around in his owner’s arms trying to break free because he knew exactly where he was—his favorite place in the world. The owner didn’t set him down right away, which only caused the dog to flail and kick his legs even more. Once the doggy day care’s gate opened, he was released and went flying. He couldn’t get inside fast enough.

The text on the video reads: “POV: You’d rather be at doggy day care than anywhere else.”

A staff member looked just as excited to welcome him back. Crouching down, she greeted him with a giant hug, to which he responded by smothering her face with kisses.

Newsweek reached out to Lillian Lew for comment.

The hilarious Facebook reel had amassed over 3.4 million views, 109,000 likes and 943 comments as of Wednesday.

“He said, ‘Move out the way that my girl over there,'” joked one user.

Another pointed out: “I love how he didn’t even look back. Like, ‘Bye dad I’ll see ya later!'”

A third person said: “This is a good sign that the staff at doggy day care treats the dogs really good.”

Several people shared their dogs have similar reactions.

“My dog is the same way! said one person. “He’s calm and chillin in the car but as soon as we pull up to day care he’s crazy excited. It makes me happy to know that he’s doing well.”

Pros and Cons of Doggy Day Care

Doggy day care can be an excellent choice for owners who want to give their pups extra socialization or if they’re going into the office and don’t want their fur baby to be left at home alone. But before dropping them off, consider the pros and cons, as well as your dog’s personality.

Some dogs, especially those who are anxious, might not be suited for a day care environment. They might become overstimulated and stressed, an article from Rover reported. Your canine could also develop an illness such as kennel cough after a visit to a doggy day care. It could also promote bad habits, whether that’s being around other dogs who aren’t trained or if the place allows them to go wild indoors.

However, on the flip side, doggy day cares are great for socializing your pooch and are an excellent place for dogs who thrive on interaction. Plus, it gives them physical activity and prevents boredom.
