Dog’s reaction to seeing snow for first time delights: “A brain reboot”

A Labrador’s excited reaction to seeing snow for the first time has delighted the internet, as TikTok users can’t get enough of his zoomies.

Dog owner Ashley Campbell (@piggywiggywig on TikTok) shared a hilarious video of her dog, named Bodie, going outside on the deck and witnessing the snow fall in Suwanee, Georgia. There was no denying the chocolate Labrador’s joy when he felt the white snowflakes under his paws, as he instantly started spinning around in small circles and taking it all in.

In the days since the video was shared to TikTok, it has gone viral with more than 525,000 views and over 86,400 likes as of Friday afternoon.

Alongside the video, Campbell wrote in the caption: “The first time Bodie saw snow! He LOVED it!”

As Bodie sped through the snow, his tail was wagging constantly and he even got down low to the ground to press his face into it. At the end of the adorable clip, Bodie even shook off and came over to the camera to inspect that too.

Newsweek has contacted Campbell via Instagram for comment.

With their thick, water-repellent coats, it may come as no surprise that Labradors tend to love the snow. As Wisconsin Pet Care explains, dogs love to investigate, and the snow can sometimes feel like a new toy for them to explore. When dogs run around in the snow, Wisconsin Pet Care likens it to a child going to a new playground. There’s just so much opportunity and excitement for them.

Indeed, people are often thrilled when they see snow outside, so imagine what it’s like for a dog who loves the outdoors.

Of course, running around the snow isn’t enough for some pups who want to taste it too. Hill’s Pet Nutrition suggests this could just be a sign that they’re thirsty, or maybe they like its taste and texture. It could even be part of their DNA, as dogs in colder climates often relied on eating snow for hydration, and it may be a habit that’s passed down the generations.

The video of Bodie’s reaction to the snow has undoubtedly amazed TikTok users, leading to more than 1,100 comments under the video.

One user wrote: “Zoomies with the handbrake on are extra fun to watch!”

Another posted: “When your zoomies are stuck in first gear!”
