Dog’s reaction to neighbor’s BBQ delights internet: “Taking inventory”

A dog named Bella has delighted the internet with her hilarious reaction to her neighbors having a BBQ, miles away from her nose.

In a viral video shared on TikTok on Sunday, under the username @bella.the.staffy7, the pup can be seen sitting on her armchair on the balcony, sniffing the air around her, trying to see where it’s coming from and how to get some for herself.

“When the neighbors are having a BBQ,” reads layover text displayed on the hilarious clip, and a caption says: “Can smell food from a mile away.”

Dogs love food, especially meat and anything that has to do with it. However, raw meat can be poisonous to our pets and so can many other foods that are perfectly safe for us, but our pups shouldn’t be eating.

Newsweek previously spoke with veterinarians to find out which of our foods are not meant for dogs and which we can safely share with our fur babies. Anything that contains coffee, tea and other caffeine products, is a no-go for dogs.

Chocolate is the number one food you should keep away from your canines. Because it contains methylxanthines, ingestion can cause vomiting, diarrhea, abnormal heart rhythm, seizures and even death. Dark chocolate is more dangerous than milk chocolate. White chocolate contains the lowest level of methylxanthines, while baking chocolate has the highest.

Moreover, anything containing alcohol, and yeast can also cause a variety of issues in canines. Vegetables don’t get a pass either. Things like grapes, onion or garlic can be potentially fatal to our dogs. You can find the full list of foods to watch out for here.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 843,200 views and 224,400 likes on the platform.

One user, Hayley, commented: “He’s like, yes, yes, three sausages, two hamburgers, three miles East.”

Legotigerslilpinkbhole said: “That is one handsome pup, my girl used to do the same thing, she looked like a straight-up cartoon.”

Alex Richmond added: “I remember my neighbors having one and peeped over the wall and they gave me some. I miss them, lost touch after they moved.”

Michelle wrote: “He’s taking inventory.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
