EUGENE, Ore. – Day 1 for the women at the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships resulted in three honorable mention All-American accolades for Fresno State on Thursday at Hayward Field.
Senior Amelia DiPaola started the day for the Bulldogs in the hammer. Two throws just over 200 feet put the senior in 21st overall following the second flight. DiPaola’s second attempt was her best of the afternoon at 61.01m/200-2.
During the evening, Harriette Mortock placed 22nd in the javelin. Making her first appearance at the national meet, the sophomore’s top throw registered 49.37m/161-11.
In the Bulldogs final event of the day, Jordyn Bryant fouled out in the shot put. It was the senior’s first of two events this week.
NOTES
- Amelia DiPaola and Harriette Mortlock were making their first appearances at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
- DiPaola was the first Bulldog hammer thrower to qualify for the championships since Megan McKee in 2014.
- Motlock was the first Bulldog to qualify for the championships in the javelin since Vanja Spaic in 2021.
- Jordyn Bryant is competing in her second NCAA Outdoor Championships, first in the shot put.
- Bryant earned the second honorable mention All-America accolade of her career.
- Bryant was the first Bulldog to qualify for the championships in the shot put since Rosario Sanchez in 2010.
