GREENSBURG –The Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter is at maximum capacity.
With all space for the animals in use and only a minimum left for storage, Saturday, Nov. 2, may be “time’s up” for eight unlucky dogs.
The dogs in question are varied in age and character.
There’s Zeek, a one-year-old Beagle who loves to snuggle; and Kate, who has been at the shelter the longest (182 days); and Mossberg, a sweet 25-pound male terrier mix.
They’re just dogs that were forgotten, lost or surrendered. Some have behaviors that require patience, love and the comforts of a warm home and a loving family.
Shelter Adoption Coordinator Larami Vailes said, “These are all amazing animals who, through no fault of their own, have found themselves on a deadline list. Shelters are not meant to be a permanent placement for pets.”
During this period, animal adoption rates at the shelter are $40 for dogs and $25 for cats. Your animal will either be spayed, neutered or scheduled for surgery. Adoption, fostering and rescuing opportunities are also available.
Call the Greensburg Decatur County Animal Shelter at 812-663-9081 for more information, or visit the shelter at 1635 W. Park Road, Greensburg.
The shelter is open noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
