A social-media post that captures a pup’s heartwarming morning routine has delighted users across the internet.
The video, shared on TikTok earlier in December under the username @ris.etc, shows the poster walking into the bedroom, only to find her English setter, Strega, buried under layers of blankets, sleeping soundly, like a baby. The poster goes on to uncover Strega, who looks very sleepy, with her head still messed up from being under the blankets, telling her it is time for her to wake up.
“What are you doing? You’re still sleeping?” she can be heard saying, as Strega looks anything but pleased with their interaction. She adds: “you’ve gotta get up darling. The day’s started! Get up! You’re so sweet.”
“Her bed head,” a caption reads. Newsweek reached out to @ris.etc for comment. We could not verify the details of the case.
Georgia-based veterinarian Jess Kirk says in an article published by Vet Explains Pets that dogs usually sleep for around 12 to 14 hours a day, although this can vary depending on multiple factors, including age, size, breed, and their overall health.
Puppies and older dogs usually require more sleep than other pups. They can easily sleep for around 18 hours throughout the day.
Your dog’s breed also significantly affects the amount of sleeping hours they need on a given day. Smaller and toy breeds such as Chihuahuas and Pomeranians can snooze up to 18 hours a day.
Just like humans sometimes have trouble sleeping, the same can often happen to dogs.
A Dogster article medically reviewed by Dr. Lauren Demos found signs that your pup isn’t getting enough sleep include poor memory, irritability, mood disturbances, forgetfulness, inability to recall basic commands, and difficulty performing simple tasks.
Establishing a well-balanced routine, providing a cozy and quiet sleeping area, and giving them plenty of opportunities to play throughout the day, can help your dog sleep better. However, if the problem persists, you should see a veterinarian.

The video quickly went viral on social media and it has so far received over 1.1 million views and more than 231,000 likes on the platform.
One user, Tara Trainor, commented: “Typical mom thinking if she is up everyone in the house has to be up.”
Buddy2DaRescue posted: “Living her best life. How bout some breakfast in bed, mom?”
Kristen Lewis added: “She’s like no YOU have to get up not ME.”
