Dogs in mauling to stay in county custody as owner given more time to find lawyer

The dogs that attacked and severely injured a woman near a homeless camp in North Portland last summer will stay in Multnomah County custody for another month.

A public hearing was held on Wednesday afternoon to decide whether to euthanize them.

The dogs’ owners asked for more time to find a lawyer. The county did not argue against it.

The judge asked the owner how much time was needed.

“I don’t know. I’m not asking for forever. I just want to be prepared properly for what’s going on. And I don’t think we’ve been given enough time to have that happen,” the owner said.

The victim, Mytoka Petry, also attended the hearing. Petry spent months recovering after losing her arm, an ear and nearly an eye.

The next court hearing is set for Feb. 19.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
