Dogs in a Pile Welcome Karina Rykman and Eggy’s Michael Goodman for Double Bass Ween Cover at Brooklyn Bowl

On Saturday, March 29, Dogs in a Pile arrived at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl as part of their Spring Tour. During the weekend appearance, the Ashbury Park, N.J.-bred band invited special guests to the stage, including the second set arrival of bassists Eggy’s Michael Goodman and Karina Rykman. Then, during the evening’s encore, the band expanded their lineup with the addition of saxophonist Benny Pinnola’s aid.

Dogs’ initial set was a sans-guest offering of six songs, including a cover of the Kinks, “Apeman,” sandwiched between originals plucked off their 2021 LP, Not Your Average Beagle, and other cornerstones of their live repertoire, before yielding the night’s most talked about moments. Coursing through “Yum T. Dum,” “Stevie Law,” and a sequence of “Unfocused” into “Gumball,” “Rabbit,” and “Spun,” the group clicked into Bloom inclusion, “Trunk Rum” in a final move before welcoming help on the ensuing number.

Bassists Goodman and Rykman assisted their hosts on a cover of Ween’s 1994 Chocolate and Cheese feature, “Voodoo Lady,” before bowing out and letting Dogs’ take the reigns during follow-ups, “Lucia’s Secret,” “Power Trip” and “Bugle on the Shelf.” Before closing their time at Brooklyn Bowl, Dogs welcomed one final guest, Pinnola, to add waves on sax on the night’s encore, “Let You Go.”

After the show, the band reflected on their concert, writing on Instagram, “The most memorable weekend in Brooklyn ❤️ Thanks for showering the bowl with the best Dog Pound energy, it really felt like home. How nice to reunite with our sister @karinarykman again, and our brothers @themichaelgoodman from @eggymusic and @benpinnola after months of being apart.” See the post below.

Dogs in a Pile returns to the stage tomorrow night, Thursday, April 3, at Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem, Pa. Tickets remain on sale.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
