Hot on the tail of a thrilling Thanksgiving weekend run with Eggy at Port Chester, N.Y.’s The Capitol Theatre, Dogs In A Pile have announced a holiday homecoming. On Saturday, Dec. 21, the rising jam quintet will return to Asbury Park, N.J. for a staging at the storied Stone Pony. This show will mark the band’s third annual hometown festivities, continuing the cherished tradition and commemorating another jam-packed year.
In 2023, Dogs topped off its year with a multi-night sellout celebration that saw the band reach out to bold new sounds; through staple covers of The Kinks, the Grateful Dead and more, the group adventurously melded funk, reggae, prog, jazz and more with festive zeal. The quintet–featuring keyboardist Jeremy Kaplan, drummer Joey Babick, bassist Sam Lucid and guitarists/vocalists Brian Murray and Jimmy Law–welcomed a litany of memorable collaborators, including harmonica extraordinaire and filmmaker Danny Clinch, former Spin Doctors guitarist Anthony Krizan and former Twiddle members Mihali and Adrian Tramontano.
Before the holiday staging, Dogs In A Pile will wrap up their 2024 touring with five East Coast engagements; on Thursday, Dec. 5, the group will perform at The Broadberry in Richmond, Va., then race out to a pair of gigs at The 8×10 in Baltimore, Md., on Dec. 6 and 7 before a two-night finale at The Sinclair in Cambridge, Mass. on Dec. 13 and 14. After the Stone Pony performance, the band will end the year with a four-night New Year’s Eve stint at Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., their longest consecutive run at a single venue.
“We’ve been discussing how big of a rotation we can manage,” Law teased of the year-end event in a release. “I think we can do a six-night rotation with no repeats. It’s a good number to create a cohesive journey for everyone and use all our songs in their best spots. So, I think we’re all up for the challenge!”
In 2025, Dogs In A Pile will return to the road for some top-tier bookings on the festival circuit, including appearances at Goose’s Viva El Gonzo in Mexico, Mountain Jam in Highmount, N.Y., All Good Now in Columbia, Md. and Zootown in Missoula, Mont. The band will also stage a packed 2025 Winter Tour across the West, Midwest and South, with spring announcements expected soon.
