Dogs found shot, tied to guardrail in Madison County animal abuse investigation

MADISON COUNTY, Texas — The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in two ongoing animal cruelty investigations involving the discovery of deceased dogs under disturbing circumstances.

On Feb. 26, two dogs were found discarded in trash bags along Burns Road in Midway, bound with orange baling twine. Authorities identified the dogs as an adult male chocolate Labrador and a young adult male shepherd mix. Both had sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the abdomen and chest, consistent with buckshot. Neither dog was microchipped or wearing a collar.

A second case was reported on March 12, when the body of an adult intact male brindle dog was discovered tied to a guardrail in the 5300 block of FM 1372 in North Zulch. The dog, which was wearing an orange collar, was sent to Texas A&M for a necropsy, courtesy of local nonprofit Rufus Refuge. The necropsy revealed severe trauma throughout the body. Police believe the dog was secured to the guardrail while still alive and was subsequently struck by a vehicle.

Authorities urge anyone with information regarding these cases to contact the Madison County Sheriff’s Office or Madison County Texas Crime Stoppers at 936-348-3100.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
