
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — UPDATE (7:28 P.M.): ReadyKern said North High School, located at 300 Galaxy Avenue, is the evacuation center for the so-called “Dogs Fire.”
Animal services will help in the sheltering of animals as well, at the shelter.
ReadyKern said they cannot guarantee assistance after 9:30 p.m. for those with access and functional needs, and special needs sheltering equipment is available at all open shelter locations (i.e., specialized cots, walkers, canes, and wheelchairs). That does not include oxygen concentrators or medication.

UPDATE (6:25 P.M.): KCFD said 8,500 acres have burned due to the so-called “Dog Fire,” which began around 2 p.m. The fire is 5% contained.
Efforts to stop the fire have slowed progress, but evacuation orders and warnings are still in effect.
KRN 605 has been added as an evacuation warning area.

UPDATE (5:20 P.M.): An evacuation order was issued for Zone KRN-606, the area east of Highway 65.
Evacuation warnings were also issued for Zone KRN-600 and KRN-601.

A fire burning east of Famoso has burned 3,000 acres within two hours Friday afternoon.
The so-called Dogs Fire is burning east of Highway 65.
According to CalFire, it started on June 13, 2025, at around 2:41 p.m. on Famoso Road and Sherwood Avenue.
Within two hours, it has burned 3,000 acres with no containment.
