RAPID CITY, S.D. – Get ready for one of Rapid City’s favorite summer events: the ninth annual Wags and Waves fundraiser, hosted by the Humane Society of the Black Hills! Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 3, from 4-6 p.m. at the Jimmy Hilton Pool in Sioux Park.
Wags and Waves is the Humane Society’s top annual fundraiser, drawing hundreds of dogs and their owners for a fun-filled evening of swimming. This year, the goal is to raise $25,000 to support the care of over 5,000 animals at the Humane Society, including food, medical expenses, and overall care.
A $10 donation per dog is requested at the gate, and all proceeds directly benefit the Humane Society of the Black Hills. Pet owners are also encouraged to bring donations of pet food. For those wishing to purchase tickets in advance, visit the Humane Society’s Facebook page.
For more details, contact Cassie Sloan at 605-716-3842 or email volunteer@hsbh.org.
Please note:
- Dogs must be supervised and controlled by their owners at all times.
- Dogs can swim freely, but humans are limited to wading in the water up to their knees.
- Owners should clean up after their pets to keep the area clean.
The Jimmy Hilton Sioux Park Pool will be closed to the public after Monday, September 2, and will be drained for the season following the event.
