PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – This Thanksgiving the Oregon Humane Society (OHS) and a local business are teaming up to give the shelter dogs a little extra love and attention.
Kristen Martin owns “Bring! Treats for Dogs” and partnered with OHS to provide special “pupcakes,” dog-friendly cupcakes, for every single dog in the shelter.
“We try to make them as fancy as possible,” said Martin.

Even though the dogs at OHS don’t have families of their own, Martin said it’s important to her that the dogs feel loved this Thanksgiving.
“When the shelters close, we all don’t necessarily think about what’s happening with those dogs and I just thought how special it would be to give them really lovely treats,” Marin said.
This is the third holiday Martin has brought her pupcakes to the dogs at OHS.

While the dogs love getting special treats, Martin said she’s the one having fun, spending her Thanksgiving afternoon at the shelter.
“Oh, it’s heaven,” she said. “It just makes me so happy to see them so happy.”
This Thanksgiving, she said there are more dogs in the shelter than in years past.
Martin has a rescue dog and hopes she can inspire others to turn to their local shelters when they decide to look for a new furry family member.
“It’s magical when you get to be a part of that experience…” Martin said. “It’s just marvelous to give them a second chance and have really beautiful life with you.”
