Dog owners, take note: starting this week, you may have to keep your four-legged friends away from your local beach.

Saltwater ocean beaches operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation ban dogs from April 1 through September 15 every year.

Unless otherwise posted, dogs are not allowed during the warmer months, mostly for public safety, public health or habitat concerns, according to the state’s website.

For freshwater inland beaches operated by the DCR, the annual dog ban doesn’t start until May 1.

Other privately-owned beaches may have their own rules about pets.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
