Dogs abandoned under sign warning against dumping animals outside Lake City Humane Society

LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) – A sign wasn’t enough to dissuade someone from abandoning two dogs outside the Lake City Humane Society.

Animal shelter officials say the two crates with dogs inside were left just after midnight underneath a sign warning against dumping animals.

The sign explains that anyone caught abandoning animals could face a $500 citation.

The humane society’s medical team will provide the necessary care for the animals. Officials note the shelter already has more than 70 dogs to care for.
