Dog warming paws in front of fire delights internet

A dog’s way of keeping himself warm and cozy this winter has tugged at the heartstrings of viewers online.

The male cavapoo, named Ted, was captured nonchalantly warming his paws in front of a burning fireplace at home. The short clip, shared by his owner @bella.fisher1 on October 12, has amassed more than 238,000 views to date. The video showcasing the canine’s nightly ritual in Wolverhampton, England, has elicited plenty of comments from delighted viewers.

Viewers were able to see Ted sitting directly in front of the glowing stove, stretching his paws toward the heat.

An overlaid text on the video reads, “POV: [Point of view] Your daily dose of dopamine is seeing your dog warm his paws every night.”

“Going to be so hard leaving him again. Keep being you Ted,” the dog’s owner said.

The display of Ted’s cozy winter habit has struck a chord with viewers, leading to plenty of lighthearted comments.

“Omg I can’t stand how cute dogs are,” one viewer said.

Another added: “This warmed my heart up. Little toasty teddy.” “The sweetest fried chicken I’ve ever seen,” a third viewer said.

“I swear dogs are the best thing in this cruel world,” another said.

“My big black Labrador would heat block the fire. He was so hot he burnt to touch! Two years and I still wish I could see this again, cherish these moments,” another added.

Another said: “We have an electric fire [and] my dog is always lying in front of it.” “Now this is warming my heart,” another said. “This is beyond sweet,” another added.

The cavapoo breed, a cross between the Cavalier King Charles spaniel and the poodle, is known for its affectionate nature, intelligence and adaptability. This breed’s temperament makes cavapoos popular family pets and companions, traits that Ted seems to embody. According to the American Kennel Club, cavapoos are well suited for cozy indoor environments, which might explain Ted’s fondness for the fireplace in his house.

Newsweek reached out to @bella.fisher1 for more information via TikTok. The post had been liked more than 30,000 times, and Ted has since appeared in a new post by his owner that pokes fun at the candid video becoming an unexpected viral sensation.
