Authorities said the dog had been in the car for three days before being freed.
“Together, we’re spreading holiday cheer, one wag at a time! Let’s make the world a little brighter, one paw-sitive act at a time!,” the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
Sheriff’s officials have not provided information on the dog’s owner or who was responsible for leaving the dog behind.
