Dog trainer says one breed is ‘king of all dogs’ and perfect for families

They’ve historically been put to work doing everything from guarding territory, hunting game, and being the muscle on farms. But don’t let their toughness fool you – they’re also big softies at heart when it comes to family.

Will added: “Number one would be the Cane Corso. I absolutely love mastiff breeds. Of all the mastiff breeds, for me I would be torn between the English mastiff and the Cane Corso.”

Making the final call he mentioned: “If I had to choose, I would probably go Cane Corso for slightly less of an issue around common health issues and slightly increased athleticism. It just lets them enjoy walks more.”

If you’re considering getting a Cane Corso, it’s crucial to do your homework and be prepared to put in the effort. These dogs require extensive training and socialisation from a young age.

Close second? German Shepherd

Some also suggest they’re best suited for experienced dog owners who have previously handled larger breeds. The German Shepherd, as the name implies, is a large working dog breed that originated in Germany.

Known for their intelligence, strength, and versatility, they are among the most popular and recognizable dog breeds globally. Will is a huge fan of them. He said: “Next up would be the German shepherd – one of the best dog breeds to train and one of the best all-around dog breeds. They can turn their hand to absolutely anything.

“The downside for them is they tend to be quite excessive barkers, so keep this in mind if you’re not ready for that. That could become an issue for you in the future.”

These smart dogs are highly trainable and excel in various roles, including police, military, search and rescue, and service and therapy work.

Due to their loyal, confident, and courageous temperaments, they also make excellent family dogs if trained correctly.

Labrador retriever

Lastly, Will raved about the breed he believes tops all others.

He added: “Last but not least – and this is the reality if I could only ever choose one breed it would be the Labrador retriever. For me, the king of all dog breeds.”

So, what’s the reason behind his deep affection?

The Labrador retriever, a well-known breed recognized for its friendly and outgoing demeanor, hails from Newfoundland, Canada. Initially bred to aid fishermen in retrieving nets and catching fish that slipped away, Labradors are celebrated for their intelligence, loyalty, and desire to please.

These traits make them outstanding companions and service dogs.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
