Dog that has spent 500 days in shelter looking for forever home: ‘Big boy with a big heart’

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Gray News) – A dog that has spent 500 days in a Kansas City animal shelter is looking for his forever home.

Lucas, a 4-year-old Labrador retriever mix, marked his 500th day at the Great Plains SPCA on Tuesday.

The shelter said Lucas is their longest resident.

Lucas is “housebroken, crate-trained, wonderful on leash, and loves to snuggle,” but he needs a home where he can be the only pet.

In a Facebook post, the shelter said Lucas is “a big boy with a big heart. I’m 84 pounds of love that wants nothing more than to snuggle up with my best friend on the couch.”

If you’re interested in adopting Lucas, email adoptions@greatplainsspca.org.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
