Dog suffering from possible marijuana toxicity left tied to guardrail near Route 2 in East Hartford

Animal control officers are looking for the owner of a dog left tied to a guardrail near Route 2 in East Hartford Monday morning.

The dog, described as an intact male between 10-12 months old, was found Monday morning tied to a guardrail on Jayce Street in East Hartford very close to Route 2 East, according to a social media post from the East Hartford Animal Control.

The dog was reportedly left with no food or water, animal control officials said. “A Good Samaritan gave him a blanket and water while they waited for us to arrive,” according to animal control officials.

The dog was reportedly showing some “concerning neurological symptoms” so he was transported to a local veterinarian, animal control officials said.

“It appears he may have been suffering from marijuana toxicity,” according to animal control officials.

Anyone who recognizes the dog, knows who his owners are or who saw anything on Monday morning is asked contact animal control at 860-291-7572.
