Dog starts house fire by chewing on portable battery, fire officials say

TULSA, Okla. (CNN) – Firefighters from Oklahoma say a dog started a destructive house fire by chewing on a portable cell phone charging bank.

The Tulsa Fire Department recently shared video from May of a dog chewing on a portable battery meant to charge cell phones. Firefighters say the dog damaged the lithium-ion battery, causing the fire.

The video shows a dog, who is lying on a mattress, jump away from the battery when it begins giving off sparks. It then quickly catches fire.

Firefighters say the blaze caused significant damage to the home. The dog who started the fire and his fellow pets, another dog and a cat, made it out safely through a dog door.

Lithium-ion batteries can explode and spark fires when damaged or even if they are just overheated. Fire officials say it’s important to only use approved chargers for them and keep them out of reach of children and pets.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
