Dogs pick up on routines quickly. They know their feeding times, when you return from work and what route to take on a walk. But a dog’s attention to detail wasn’t so appreciated by one man in a recent TikTok clip.
A husband and wife were taking their dog on a walk in a July 15 TikTok video posted by user @sjdbackup. Cruising down the sidewalk, the family passed the buildings in town when suddenly the dog darted toward a door.
This small, yet confident, dog knew exactly what door he wanted to go to, pulling the husband with him. He looked back at his parents wondering why no one was following him. Little did he know that he “snitched” on the husband with this quick turn toward a pub.
The innocent and unintentional move revealed the husband’s secret pub visits. But, can anyone blame him? He was following the normal route he learned.
Although, the move looked a bit calculated like he knew friends and treat were waiting for him inside.

If the husband gets in trouble for his pub visits with the dog, he can lean on the fact that he was not the only one to be outed by a dog. One springer spaniel led mom to the village pub the day after the husband walked the dog. What was supposed to be a little secret quickly unraveled with the dog pulling her to the pub.
No one can blame the dogs for wanting to grab a pint with their owners either. Most pubs are dog-friendly and since canines are social creatures, it can be a great option for stimulation and exercise. However, the People’s Dispensary for Sick Animals recommends owners consider the following before a day out on the town.
- Double-check that the place is dog-friendly before going.
- Don’t overwhelm your dog. Slowly introduce them to the environment.
- Learn their cues. Watch their body language and check whether or not they are feeling scared or anxious. If so, remove them.
- Prevent the temptation of “pub grub” by checking the floor for fallen snacks, keep them out of reach of food on the tables or offer a distraction with toys or a chew treat.
- Remember the essentials—water bowl, doggy bags, treats and toys.

While the husband might not find the situation hilarious, thousands of viewers were cracking up. The TikTok clip amassed over 807,700 views, 51,200 likes and 132 comments as of Thursday.
“Grass, what goes on a walk stays on the walk,” said a TikToker, while a second added: “That’s what you call a creature of habit.”
Others shared that this isn’t the only dog who can’t get enough of pub life.
“My dog does this but it’s because the bar staff always give him treats when we pass,” commented one pet parent.
Another wrote: “My dog is exactly the same. Refuses to budge unless we go in!”
