FPD says around 4:20 they received a call to go to the area of Harvard and Marty about a child who had been bitten by a dog.
The child’s mother told police she had shot and killed the dog to stop the attack.
When Officers arrived they found the 9-year-old who had received minor bites to their left arm and right thighs.
The child was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Police learned that the dog was chained up outside at a neighboring property.
At some point, the dog broke off the chain and attacked the child.
Police say the mother will not face charges as she was protecting her child.
Police said the dog was a pit bull.
FPD wants to remind pet owners to make sure they are secure and can’t get out regardless of breed or size.
