HARTFORD, Vt. (WCAX) – Firefighters in Hartford saved a family dog from a fire on Thursday.
Crews were called to Crystal Place shortly after 4 p.m. for a fire in the basement.
Two people had already gotten out of the home but a dog was still trapped inside.
Firefighters were able to rescue the dog and put the blaze out.
Officials say smoke, fire and water damage made the house uninhabitable. The cause of that fire is under investigation.
It was the second fire of the day for Hartford crews. They spent most of the day helping to fight a fire in Sharon, where one person was found dead. Police say that deadly fire is not considered suspicious.
