JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A dog rescue agency hosted an adoption event in San Marco on Saturday.
The London Sanctuary provides long-term care for dogs who can’t be placed in homes due to their advanced age or medical needs. It also places dogs rescued from government-run shelters around the Southeastern U.S. and Northeast Florida.

The event took place at the Earth Pets Natural Pet Market on 1629 Hendricks Avenue.
Connie Cannaday, the vice president of The London Sanctuary talked about why people should be looking to adopt hounds.
“Hounds make great family dogs, so I don’t think a lot of people realize that,” Cannaday said. “They’re extremely friendly, very good with children.”
The organization is hosting its formal gala, “Planet Howlywood” at the Beaches Museum in Jacksonville Beach on Jan. 25, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
