Dog recovering after being shot three times

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – A dog named Cooper, who was shot three times and have to have his back leg amputated, is now on the road to recovery.

He made a special appearance at the Lexington Humane Society’s Bark Bash.

“It’s really surprising how sweet and resilient and trusting he still is after everything that’s happened,” said Shayla Black, Cooper’s foster mom.

Cooper has undergone multiple surgeries after being shot three times by a burglar who entered his owner’s home.

“What should have been a tragic outcome has been really inspiring,” said Katy Stoess, special events manager at Lexington Humane Society. “Anyone, anything that has been shot three times should not be walking amongst us and to see him wagging his tail, with a smile is truly amazing.”

Now on the road to recovery, Cooper looked on as many costumed pups and their admiring owners walked by, with many in the community having heard of his story.

“I feel like all of the love is going to help heal him,” said Black. “All of the support really really does matter because he’s got a long way to go and gives him some hope.”

Cooper lives in Black’s home as a foster — her 6th foster pup.

“They’re all about the same in terms of fostering,” she said. “You just give your time, give them a place to live, give your love, and they do the rest.”

Now missing one leg and having a cast on another, Shayla just has one message for anyone who is following along with Cooper’s journey.

“He acts like he is not missing a leg, so he gets around,” she said. “Give him a second chance. He deserves it.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
