Dog Park at Las Colonias Closes Sections for Season

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) – A section of the park is closing for the winter, and some may consider it “ruff.”

The east side and middle sections of the grass-off-leash dog park at Las Colonias will close on October 1. This section will be closed until June 2025.

The city dog parks rotate the sections of the park that are open to help keep the grass and soil healthy. This is done when grass is dormant in fall, winter and early spring. The grass has a hard time recovering from the dogs playing if it is not given a break.

The west side of the dog park at Las Colonias will not be closing. In addition, there is also another dog park at Canyon View Park on the north side of Grand Junction. These are the only two areas where pets are allowed off their leash.

Animal Control Services enforces the leash law within city limits. Animal Control can give citations to pet owners if pets are off their leash outside those designated parks.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
