A dog owner fatally shot another dog as the two animals fought at an Apollo Beach park on Monday, deputies said.
Deputies responded shortly before 6 p.m. to a shooting call at the Apollo Beach Dog Park, 664 Golf and Sea Blvd., according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
The caller said two dogs were fighting when one of the dog’s owners shot the other, a spokesperson said in an email. The shooter left the park after the incident.
Deputies said the dog that was shot attacked the other dog and the owner of the attacking dog couldn’t pull off the animal.
The sheriff’s office determined the shooting was not a criminal case and no investigation is ongoing, the spokesperson said.
No other details were released.
