Samuel Winchester was just a pup when he came into the shelter in early October with his brother Dean. Sadly, neither have had any adoption interest and they are growing up in kennels. Both dogs are extremely sweet boys–they love other dogs and the company of humans. They are also both easy to walk on the leash and are not expected to be large dogs. Samuel is the more outgoing of the two and will run right up to you for love.
It’s hard to understand why dogs with such wonderful dispositions have had no interest. But with all the shelters full, the waits for adoption are just very long everywhere in our region. Still, it is sad to watch Samuel, and his brother grow up in the shelter when they should be learning the routines of family life. They do not need to be adopted or fostered together but would welcome another dog in their life.
Please call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Samuel.
If you cannot adopt, please consider fostering. You can fill out a foster application at: https://www.fosdathens.com/foster
