Sam’s story is enough to break your heart. He was found living in conditions so bad that the pads on his paws had mostly disintegrated. His skin had a bacterial infection down to the deepest layers. Despite all of this, Sam is simply not ready to throw in the towel on life. This guy is intent on making the most of however many years he has left.
Sam was neutered last week and at 12 years old, we were grateful when a foster took him in to recover. In his foster home, Sam has taken well to the crate, sleeps through the night, and seems to be housebroken. He loves to find just the right spot to curl up in the sun or in front of the woodstove. If there is no dog bed in his preferred spot, he stands there and looks at his foster to move his bed into the sunbeam. Sam loves to nap, but he also defies his age in many ways. He loves to go on walks and explore the outdoors.
Sam is ready to embrace the comforts of home life, but his foster home is only short term. We’re anxious for him to get on with his new life. Goodness he deserves it.
Sam has been tested with many dogs at the shelter and has done well with all of them. Sam also lived with cats previously, but we would still recommend slow introductions. Call 740-593-5415 to meet Sam.
