JASPER, 4-18-24, neutered Black Mouth Cur, 2yo, 70#, FOUND with Ruby on Hawk Rd, Athens.
Jasper is a fantastic dog who has been overlooked for too long. He is approximately 2 years old and is said to be a pure-bred Black Mouth Cur. He is past his puppy years and is ready to settle into a forever family. Despite being an all around great dog, Jasper is in his third month at the shelter and is starting to break down. He came in with his sister Ruby, but she thankfully was rescued by a partner organization. Since she left, Jasper has been overwhelmed by shelter stress. He has not been eating well and often lays motionless in his kennel.
Outside of the shelter though, Jasper perks up and walks very well on the leash. He has met a number of dogs at the shelter and has walked companionably with each of them. We know this boy is going to be a fantastic family dog. The only potential limitation is that he needs a home without chickens. Please consider Jasper if you are looking for a calm, friendly canine companion.
Call The Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Jasper. If you can’t adopt, consider fostering. You can fill out our foster application at fosdathens.com/foster
