Dog of the Week: Brutus

In early July, three dogs were seized from a very difficult situation. It was clear that none had spent much time around humans. Despite their absolute terror upon entering the shelter, they were miraculously not aggressive towards humans or other dogs. Brutus, a striking yellow lab mix, is the last remaining dog from this group at the shelter. Although he loved his littermates, he is ready for an adventure of his own.

Brutus is already two years old but he acts much younger–still not sure of himself and timid of many people and new objects. Brutus has slowly developed more confidence, and BARC has worked with him to just learn how to be a dog again. Brutus has shouldered a lot of trauma in his short life and he deserves to enjoy some carefree moments. Recently he has hit some major milestones, play bowing with other dogs, exploring the play yard on his own, and snuffling for food in the adoption room. The volunteers and staff are cheering him on as he takes these first steps towards a life filled with love.

Please call the Athens County Dog Shelter at (740) 593-5415 to meet Brutus.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
