Dog Mom Creates ‘Documentary’ About Her ‘House Hippo’ English Bulldog and It’s On-Point

English Bulldogs are known for being the class clowns of the dog world, as well as being pretty lazy dogs who love nothing more than a long nap. They also live up to their “house hippo” nickname; they’re very chunky dogs! Baby Pancake is an adorable bulldog whose mom made a documentary about her that she shared on October 1st, and it’s so relatable if you’ve ever had or known an English Bulldog!

Watch the documentary to learn more about house hippos in their natural habitat. It covers their hunting and nest building abilities, their temperaments, as well as some of their other attributes. Make sure your sound is on because the narrator’s voice makes it really seem like you’re watching a documentary!

Now I want a house hippo! Baby Pancake is one of my favorite English Bulldogs on social media, and I always love seeing what she’s up to. I’m not alone; commenters loved the cute video as well. @Lizsu Mende said, “Best documentary ever known of the most beautiful American house hippo!” @Bliss Julia admitted, “I thought that house hippos were real my whole childhood. LOL!”

Can Dogs Eat Raisins and Grapes?

Commenter @pitbu1124 reminded all of us, “That’s an awesome documentary, but I really hope people don’t feed doggos raisins or grapes because of this!” There are certain foods you should never feed your dogs, and raisins and grapes top the list. Others include caffeine, chocolate and cocoa, onions, garlic and leeks, and macadamia nuts.

Another Pet Helpful article had this to say about raisins and grapes, “Fruits such as grapes, raisins, or black currants are good for humans but not dogs. In dogs, these fruits can cause irreparable damage to the kidneys, possibly causing death. Although the exact toxic dose is not yet established, even four or five raisins or grapes can prove poisonous for dogs. If ingested, your dog may show symptoms such as loss of appetite, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, weakness, drunken gait, and decreased urine production (leading to a complete lack of urine production).”

What should you do if your dog eats grapes? One vet shared that it depends on how many they’ve eaten, “The number of grapes needed to produce signs of illness will probably vary depending on the amount of fungal growth found on the fruit. Because raisins are essentially concentrated grapes, it takes far fewer of them to cause problems. Although other sources estimate that it can take about 10 grapes per kilogram of body weight.”

If your dog has eaten them, you can try to make them vomit, but always consult with your vet first. If you’re unsure if they ate them or how many they’ve eaten, watch for an increase in your pet’s thirst. Dehydration will follow and may be obvious with sunken eyes, a dry mouth, and prolonged skin tenting if the skin on the back of the neck is lifted.

Grape poisoning can be treated, but it’s imperative that you get your dog to the vet as soon as possible. Make sure that your dog cannot access any grapes or raisins, or better yet just keep them out of the house if you have a dog that will eat anything and everything.
