Dog owners are being reminded to renew their pet’s license before the end of June.
Connecticut law requires all dogs six months and older to be licensed and wear both rabies and license tags at all times.
Licenses cost $8 for spayed or neutered dogs and $19 for those that are not. Owners must provide proof of current rabies vaccination and, if applicable, spay or neuter certification.
The state says failure to comply could result in a $75 fine from animal control and a $1 late fee for every month past the deadline.
Licensing is required even if the dog stays indoors.
