LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) – A dog was shot and killed while the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office was serving a warrant on Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office said it was serving a warrant in Toney when an “unfortunate incident” happened involving three dogs.
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy was attacked by the dogs. The dog’s owner told WAFF 48 that the deputy shot at the dogs five times in response.
One of the dogs didn’t survive the incident.
“Our deputies are committed to serving the community with professionalism and respect,” Limestone County Sheriff Josh McLaughlin said. “This is a tragic incident, and we deeply regret the loss of life. Our thoughts remain with the family at this time.”
The subject of the warrant has not yet been located, according to the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office.
