Chloe Mansoor, Ezra’s mother, said that her son, who had been in critical condition at East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, didn’t survive the injuries and was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon.
In a statement from Young-Williams Animal Center CEO Janet Testerman, the center had custody of the dog following the attack and placed the dog under a 10-day bite quarantine as required by law.
The statement also said the Knox County Sheriff’s Office recommended the dog be euthanized. On Friday, the animal center followed through with euthanizing the dog after the bite quarantine period had ended.
