Dog dies in house fire in Chicago’s western suburbs

CHICAGO (CBS) — A dog was killed in a house fire Saturday afternoon in west suburban La Grange Park.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., the La Grange Park Fire Department responded to a house fire at 514 N. Catherine Av., and when crews arrived, flames were coming out the back windows of the 2 ½-story wood frame home, and were spreading to the 2nd floor and attic.

Fire officials said no one was home at the time, except for the family dog. Firefighters pulled the dog out of the home, but it was unresponsive, and despite firefighters’ attempts to revive the animal, it died.

Firefighters used two hose lines to put out the fire.

The fire appeared to have started in the kitchen, but the exact cause remained under investigation.

The home was left uninhabitable, with damage estimated at $200,000.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
