Dogs thrive on predictability and a daily routine, however changes in their lives can pop up from time-to-time causing them to feel stressed or anxious.
Those feelings are valid, but unfortunately, owners sometimes cannot help their dogs during stressful situations and surrender them to an animal shelter. And Ally the greyhound is just one of thousands of dogs surrendered yearly to shelters.
A TikTok video posted by user @clarksfarmrehomingcentre on Jull 4 shows Ally “broken”—sitting and waiting for her new family at the Essex-based Clarks Farm Rescue Centre in the United Kingdom. The 8-year-old dog lived with three other greyhound siblings, but due to struggles at home with a newborn baby, Ally and her siblings were all surrendered.
She was returned to the shelter after living with her family for three years. The text on the video explained Ally “couldn’t cope with the new baby.” And now, she can’t cope with the stressful shelter life.
The shelter’s website explains that there was a plan to rehome Ally with her brother Jim, but a “difficult decision” kept them separate to improve their adoption chances.
Although she’s 8-years-old, Ally still rocks her expressive puppy dog eyes and has a playful side mixed with the perfect combination of her laid-back nature. The rescue center said she is sweet and gentle, but struggles with other breeds.
They believe Ally would do best in an adult-only home or one with teenagers. She would thrive being the only dog, but if proper introductions were made, she could live with other canines.
Ally is often overlooked as an older black dog, but she is a “hidden gem” waiting to be adopted.

TikTok Users React
Ally’s story has so far amassed over 276,700 views and 23,000 likes on TikTok, with the clip leaving viewers heartbroken and confused.
“I will never understand how people can rescue a dog then get rid of her. Dogs are family, not toys,” one TikTok user wrote.
Another commented: “When our dog couldn’t cope with our new babies, we hired a trainer. Now the babies are two and they adore the dog.”
Others were hopeful Ally’s forever family would adopt her sooner rather than later.
“Oh Miss Ally! Sometimes you have to open a couple of doors before you find the right one,” a third user wrote.
A fourth posted: “Poor sweet girl — she needs to find a home soon.”
