Dog attack injures one in Tallahassee; authorities warn of potential loose dog

A person sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being attacked by a group of dogs on Saturday morning, according to the Tallahassee Police Department.

Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Lipona Road at approximately 11:26 a.m. in response to reports of an animal attack. Upon arrival, they found a victim who had been bitten multiple times by several dogs. The victim was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for further care.

Witnesses reported seeing four to five dogs involved in the attack. While four of the dogs have since been located and taken into custody by animal control, authorities believe one may still be on the loose in the area.

Residents are advised not to approach any loose or aggressive dogs they may encounter. Instead, they are urged to contact law enforcement immediately.

The incident occurred near the route of the Capital City Marathon, prompting law enforcement to issue additional warnings to marathon participants and spectators to stay alert to their surroundings.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
