Police in Roxbury are investigating a dog attack that injured two people who owned the dog and two officers as well on Dennison Street on Monday.Surveillance video shows dogs barking as police arrive to help the victims who are inside the home.As one officer stands at the fence, she screams as a dog bites her. That dog then runs free and moments later, an officer opens fire. “The gate was open, so that’s when the dog came out and it sort of rushed the other police officer,” a neighbor said. That neighbor watched as police tried to help the victims, but he said they struggled with several dogs on the property.”I saw the dogs were agitated and they were trying to get in. It was very disturbing to see when the dog attacked the officers,” he said. Police said they came to Dennison Street after the aggressive dog bit a man and woman here around 4:30p.m. on Monday.”Obviously the dog, given what he did to the two victims, the owners of the dogs, the officers made the decision to discharge and put the dog down,” Boston Police Deputy Supt. Paul McLaughlin said. Animal control removed three other dogs from the property.”They bark all day, they’re not really socialized,” neighbor Kim Beaudet said. The commotion rattled neighbors who couldn’t understand what could have prompted such a violent attack.”I’m sad these people got attacked, it’s their dogs,” Beaudet said. “They’re familiar with this dog.”The two police officers are expected to recover while the owners of the dog have much more serious injuries.
