Does Anyone in Portland, Maine, Pick Up Their Dog’s Poo?

I can’t be the only one frustrated in Portland, Maine.

I love Portland, and I love dogs.

But boy do I hate having to watch where I walk because some dog owners can’t be bothered to pick up after their dog. Sure, if they could use a toilet, we’d all be fine. (You know they wouldn’t flush!)

You can’t blame Portland, Maine for your laziness

Portland is a very dog-friendly town. Working and living in the city for decades, I know this first hand. You can’t walk down the street or in a neighborhood without running into a dog owner. And Portland knows that and provides bags at several locations throughout the city. So it’s not access to poop bags that’s preventing you if you forget yours. What is it?

How many dogs are in Portland, Maine?

There’s not a lot of data on that. However, according to the World Population Review, Maine is a pet state. 63.5% of Mainers have a pet. Surprisingly though, most of the pets owned in Maine are cats (43.6% vs 35.9%). All I can tell you is that spending a lot of time in Portland, at some point, you are going to find dog poo that someone didn’t pick up.

Or worse, bagged and then left the bag. At least the ones who put it on their car windshield will at some point get rid of it.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
