Different dog breeds test speed against 4-wheeler—Here’s who won

A video of different dog breeds testing their speeds against a four-wheeler quickly went viral with over 2.1 million views on TikTok.

Illinois-based dog trainer Rachel, who is known on TikTok as @diamondsportdogs, recently shared a clip of several different dogs racing. She explained in the caption that a friend came over with their dogs. A golden retriever, French bulldog, corgi, a German shepherd mix, Nova Scotia duck trolling retriever and a Belgian Malinois all tested out their legs.

“This was all the pups in that video’s first time trying it out!” she told Newsweek via TikTok. “They run out in the country next to the corn fields by our house!”

As the dogs ran free along the corn fields, someone drove a four-wheeler and filmed their performance. The results are what one might’ve expected—the smaller dog breeds didn’t run as fast, but they surely did their best.

The corgi and French bulldog were the only two that did not reach double-digit speeds, coming in at eight and nine miles per hour.

The 2-year-old Belgian Malinois earned the top speed, reaching 25 mph. The German shepherd was a close second at 22 mph, followed by the duck trolling retriever and golden retriever, both at 19 and 15 mph.

Rachel wasn’t expecting this TikTok to go viral, but within three days the clip amassed over 2.1 million views, 236,900 likes and 1,831 comments. Viewers flooded the comment section with amazement at the dogs’ speeds.

“The corgi lookin back like, ‘Why we runnin?!'” joked one user.

Another added: “The sad realization that a Frenchie runs faster than I do.”

A third person pointed out: “The Malinois going the fastest with her emotional support stuffie is hilarious.”

Fastest Dog Breeds

While one canine in the video earned the title of being the fastest in the bunch, their speeds are nothing in comparison to other dog breeds.

The World Animal Foundation reported that Greyhounds are the fastest dog breed, running at a top speed of about 45 mph. Originally bred to hunt, Greyhounds have been used as racing dogs, although, a majority of states have made racing these dogs illegal.

Other incredible fast dogs include Borzois, who run between 35 to 40 mph. Border collies, German shepherds and Great Danes all run about 30 mph. Dobermans are slightly faster with an average speed of 35 mph.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
