The Diamond ‘Dogs (20-12, 6-2 CUSA) are ramped up for a midweek contest in front of the home fans with the UL-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns on Wednesday, April 9 at 6 p.m. CT. The Bulldogs took the first season matchup in Lafayette with a blowout 16-6 victory at M.L. ‘Tigue’ Moore Field.

LA Tech has been on a tear in recent weeks, having won 11 of their last 14 games including winning their previous four weekend series with three of them being over Conference USA opponents. The Bulldogs currently lead the league with a 6-2 record and are tied for the current longest winning streak with Liberty at three games.

Sebastian Mexico was named CUSA’s Hitter of the Week on April 7 after belting a homer in three-straight games to lift Tech to a 3-1 record last week. One of his home runs was a two-run walk off blast to open the series against FIU followed by a grand slam that essentially put the second game of the series out of reach.

Mexico leads the team in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage with just 20 starts this year.

UL-Lafayette comes to Ruston following a series to Sun Belt opponent Texas State after shutting out the Bobcats in the series opener, 2-0. The Ragin’ Cajuns are scheduled to host UTRGV on April 8 before traveling north to face the Bulldogs.

Conor Higgs has produced 10 of UL-Lafayette’s 25 homers this season yet went hitless in 12 at-bats during the three games played against the Bobcats. Higgs leads the team in RBI, runs and OPS and is tied with Caleb Stelly at 36 hits to tie for the team lead. His batting average of .319 is second-best for the Ragin’ Cajuns behind Owen Galts .329 average.

UL-Lafayette’s pitching staff carries a team ERA 5.64 into the new week prior to their contest with UTRGV and four pitchers that have tallied at least 30 punchouts this season. JR Tollett and Chase Morgan are tied for the most at 35 apiece followed by Andrew Herrmann with 32 and Tess Hate’s 31. Five players have notched multiple winning decisions with three having three wins.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
