A not-for-profit dog rescue organization in DeKalb County has announced plans to close its kennels at the end of the month.
Waterloo-based Canine Haven Rescue Inc. said in a social media post last week that the move is being made due to “medical/health issues.”
The organization did not provide any more details on the decisions, but said it would continue to operate solely as a foster-based organization.
Canine Haven Rescue takes in dogs from high-kill shelters, owner surrenders, and former breeding dogs, according to its website. The organization works to get the dogs in foster homes after they have receive necessary veterinary care.
The not-for-profit currently has several dogs available for adoption by the end of July. The organization is offering half-price adoption fees for any dogs that have been at its facility for over a year.
