Deadly dog attack in Tucson: Owner charged with manslaughter

TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – A devastating incident unfolded in the early hours of March 30, 2025, when deputies from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department responded to a distress call on the 5000 block of West Camino Tierra.

Upon arrival, deputies found 43-year-old Kevin Renguul severely injured in the roadway. They administered life-saving measures until he was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Sadly, Mr. Renguul passed away on April 2, 2025, due to his injuries.

The initial investigation by the Community Problems Unit revealed that Mr. Renguul was attacked by five canines that had escaped from the property of 60-year-old Martin Martinez. The dogs had a history of aggression and had previously attacked a neighbor.

Martinez was arrested and charged with felony endangerment and felony assault by a vicious animal. Following Mr. Renguul’s death, an additional manslaughter charge was filed against Martinez. He remains in custody at the Pima County Adult Detention Complex.

An Animal Control Officer from Pima Animal Care Center took possession of the five canines involved. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
